MEET THE TEAM


LAB INFO & STRUCTURE:

Five African storytellers brought together by their love for the environment are tasked to make a short film after discovering the magic that lies beneath the surface of the ocean. The multidisciplinary team will comprise of a Executive Producer/Team Mentor, Director/Producer, Editor, 2 x Cinematographer and a Marine Scientist.

The outcomes of the Lab are accredited diving certifications and the development and production of a short/micro film.

All expenses will be covered (including flights, accommodation and meals) for the duration of participation at the NEWF Lab.

The Lab will consist of 3 stages:

Stage One:

(21st Feb - 6th March)

To be completed by all 5 participants. During this stage there is a strong focus on story development & pre-production where the participants will be tasked with developing a concept for a short/micro film.  Participants will also undergo training for 3 dive accreditations: Open Water 20, Explorer 30 and Ecological Diver.

Stage Two:

(8th - 21st March)

This stage in specifically for the cinematographer to develop diving skills in equipment management, high safety and buoyancy which will allow him/her to grow and become comfortable as an underwater cinematographer. He/She will undergo training for advanced diving accreditations: Deep 40, Nitrox and Performance Diver. During this stage the cinematographer will also be tasked with filming and documenting the shot-list as per the outcomes of story development in stage one.

Stage Three:

Post Production

The Lab takes place between FEBRUARY 21st 2020 - MARCH 21st 2020.
